We feel so fortunate that we can go for dinner together as a family. Never did Husband and I imagine that we would be able to go out for dinner and take Hedgehog with us. It is an amazing treat and good fun to take a nearly one year old with us.
There is one place that seems to be becoming our regular haunt. The pub near my work, so we zip in after work on Saturday. The waitresses know Hedgehog and he is always full of smiles and giggles for them. We have been going in since we could first take Hedgehog out in public (another story for another day, the lack of being able to go in public).
Tucked into a booth in the corner, we began our relationship there as a family. For over a year, Husband and I had gone in for beers after work, until we found out I was pregnant. It was so nice to take Hedgehog in while in his bucket seat for breakfast, or dinner. It is now really exciting to take him in for dinner and know there are things on the menu he can eat. Last time we went the 11 month old eating machine, had a grilled cheese sandwich, some of my fish, a whole glass of milk, and a bowl of ice cream.
The other striking thing about our last visit was how understanding all the other patrons were. Hedgehog was squealing with delight, and they looked on with smiles, explaining their 3 month was at home and this was their date night. On the other side of us was a family of three, the parents playing cards with their tweener while waiting for food. The mother was in tears, explaining that they had bringin their daughter to the pub since she was Hedgehog's age and it made her so happy to see more little ones coming in keeping the tradition up.
Having a "local" that you can go to, relax in and get to know the staff is wonderful, and we look forward to keeping the tradition up.
That is lovely. It is so nice to go where knows, you know, your name. :-)
